Certified 196cc Chipper/Shredder

I got this machine a year ago and l find it very hard to start. Got to use it very little because pulling the cord tires me out before l start. Any suggestions on starting it, doesn’t seem to have a choke.

I bought this machine due to the fact that we are no longer able to do open burning in our municipality because of climate change and the risk of wild fire. I had no other way to get rid of downed limbs on our 1 acre forested property. Finally after living with 2 huge piles of branches for several years, I broke down and bought this machine. It assembled quickly (fill oil first-trust me), and actually started first pull! After a bit of a learning curve I was comfortable and using it. It took about 5 hours and 2 tanks of gas to eliminate my 2 branch piles. one thing to note, the website description says it will handle branches up to 4”. The manual says only 3”, and in reality probably anything over 2” will stall the engine unless you feed it ever so slowly. This is more difficult than it sounds as the machine wants to pull the branches into it. Anyways this was the learning curve I mentioned. Overall the price was great and it did the job.

I got this chipper about 2 weeks ago. I went out back to start chipping on 4 trees that I cut down. I was blown away as to how this machine shredded and chipped those branches. So I thought to be safe I would order new blades so I can change them out and Frictionless World customer service was great also Certified. This thing is built to last and I am more than impressed with it. I checked out other chippers and all were 600 dollars more than this and not close to the same quality. Going out chipping today again.

Good quality kohler engine, solid build, for a reasonable price (a small engine mechanic told me: stay away from "we are the cha...." engines). A little under powered so wear gloves and get ready to pull back as the chipper will bite off more than it can chew. If you feed it slowly enough to keep engine RPM's up, you'll avoid stalls and probable jams. Once stalled/jammed (if you ignored the previous tip about feeding slowly) the cord can't be pulled, so remove the bottom feeder, rotate the now visible fly wheel backwards (watch out for the sharp blades) and remove obstructions & reassemble. The small size makes it easy to start, store and move so you won't use the tow hitch unless you've got a really long distance to go. Note the two oil fill plugs. One is blocked by the bottom feeder so use the other. The missing star... The shaft needed to be hammered very hard to go into the tube that holds it. I would have lubricated the shaft first had I known how hard it was to hammer into position but once half way in this sucker's not coming out. Once in, the shaft doesn't rotate since the wheel bearing assemblies take care of rotation. The heavy hammering fattened/flattened the end of the shaft so the wheel bearing assembly wouldn't fit and required filing. Turns out one of the four wheel bearing assemblies was smaller than the other three and would not even fit onto the un-hammered end of the shaft. By pulling out the smaller bearing from the inner side of the wheel and swapping it with the one on the outer side of the wheel, the wheel was installed with minimal filing of the first cm of the shaft's end. So log story short, engineering tolerances for the shaft/shaft tube and wheel bearing assemblies could be better. Once assembled, if you feed slowly to keep RPM's up, you'll love this chipper/shreader.

Purchased today and I had to write this because of another post. Oil plug, this motor has 2 a left and a right just make sure the one beside the chute intake is tight before you put it together. Have not run it yet but it is well built as far as I see so far.
