    Disappointed

The product had clearly been open by another customer and was poorly sealed with Scotch tape. When opened the operating instruction were missing and one bracket on unit was broken. Returned to store for refund

Installed and 1st use it blows up

Installed into my semi and I go to use it for the first time and it blows up. Smelled of burnt wires when I bought it. Should have listened to my gut instincts and returned ASAP.

Poor right out of the box

Bought this to use on a mini air compressor that came with a Coleman air mattress for camping. It would shut off 1 second after I turned on the air pump. Couldn't handle the small load of the air pump. It's going back.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Cooked it

I ran a 9 amp saw for about ten minutes and it cooked the AC side of the inverter(USB ports still work). I know that is right at the top limit of this inverter and maybe the start-up surge from my saw was peaking out at more than this unit could handle. Oh well, lesson learned... buy a bigger inverter. That was the first time I ever put a real load to it, so I can not really comment on anything else.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    1 - 10 of 17 Questions

Q: Connect to solar panel directly while powering a connected device? Wondering if I could use this to connect your 1/6hp sump pump directly connected to a timer power bar, while the inverter is connected directly to a 60W solar panel? Will it be able to run if there's enough sun and shutdown if not?

    • A: The Cat 1000 Watt power inverter is designed to run from a 12 Volt battery not directly connected to a solar panel. Regarding the 1/6HP sump pump, we would need to know the input current as well as the surge current to determine if the inverter could run the pump. Pumps and compressors have a surge requirement that can be up to 8 times the listed power requirements. For more information please contact our customer service department at 855-806-9228.

    • A: Get a shovel, dig a small hole, place the piece of garbage in hole, bury the garbage, go to Canuck, buy an Eliminator, or any inverter which offers internal overload protection.

Q: what is the peak surge power for this unit? is there a remote??

    2 Answers
    • A: There is no remote. If you are concerned about the peak power limit, I would buy a larger inverter. Read my review. I ran my inverter just under the rated limit, but I still cooked it, I am assuming it was the peak surge from my saw that did it.

Q: For how long will this inverter deliver 1000 watts of power if fully charged? 500 watts?

    • A: All depends on the capacity and quality of the battery, not the inverter.

Q: Would this be ok for a 7.5 amp impact wrench

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, as long as the impact wrench’s surge at start up does not exceed the power of the inverter, 1000 Watts.

Q: Does this connect directly to a 12 Volt SLA Battery?

    1 Answer
    • A: It can. This inverter comes with 3 leads: (1) 12V accessory plug so you can plug into a 12V outlet/cigarette light – note however that your limited to about 150W output with this method, (2) alligator clamps which you can use for temporary connection directly to a 12V battery and (3) hardwire leads which let you make a permanent connection directly to a 12V battery.

Q: will this work in a transport truck Can I use the battery clamps to temporarily hook up to my big rig that has more then one 12v battery wired together or will it cause damage to the inverter?

    1 Answer
    • A: Dear Muffman, The CAT 1000 watt power inverter should only be connected to a 12V battery system. Connecting it to a higher voltage system will damage the inverter.

Q: Can I connect a timer to the inverter so that it will draw power on a preset schedule?

    1 Answer
    • A: You can use a mechanical timer on the AC side to control when your appliance turns on anf off. An electronic timer may not function properly with the modified sine wave.
