    Review For Potenza RE040

Great spring and summer performance tire in every respect. Tread life has been even and in the 50K and 60K range on my prior set. And they have never suffered from blowouts or flats. And they have withstood curb bumps and potholes. I have driven 110000 miles with sets of these and I will tell you that they give awell maintained sports cars a better than average 'sportscar' ride, but one which still yields the bumps as too jarring an experience. I'm ready for more comfort, at the cost of exchanging some cornering.

About to install my 3rd set of these on the Spyder, so I guess I'm happy. In Puget Sound it's mostly wet and these tires performed perfectly adequately while they have good tread. Once they get near the wear-bars, it degrades quite a bit. As a lightweight convertibel sportscar, I have 0 expectations for snow driving and indeed the tires are not helpful this way. There seem to be only two options for a matched set of 185/55/15 in front and 215/45/16 in back-Bridgestone& Kumho-and nobody in my region has compliments for the Kumhos. Factory set of tires lasted 50,000 mi, second set only 25,000. Dissapointing but reality.

Came with the car when I bought her brand new in 2006. Not bad but will not put back on.< br>I have put on little over 22k and about time to change out. A little pricey and only way to get them where I live is to go through dealership.< br>

As an ex-SCCA racer, I tend to drive in a more spirited mode. I had Yoko AVS and though I liked them... these are by far a better tire for my use. Feedback and overall road feel are better and the cornering is crisper. Much better in the wet. Worth the price!

Bought used RX-8 with these tires from factory. Road noise compares to mudders on my jeep and ride comfort about what I would expect from driving Fred Flintstone's rock wheel equipped sedan. Cornering is added excitement as the slightest road imperfection sends these tires skipping accross the pavement uncontrolled and unpredictable. Can't wait to replace these rock hard noise makers. Maybe I missed the fun of the 1st 20,000 miles and they are better new but I won't make the investment to find out.
