    Take Forever to Warm Up

I purchased these a few months ago, and the one thing I noticed is that they take about five minutes to warm up to their full brightness. That wouldn't be a huge issue if they were running all day, but in a bathroom fixture when you're in and out, it makes things very dim.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Did not last

Did not last very long. Had them less than a year before they started acting up. The bulb was still good but the bases had become loose causing intermittent connection.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

First time I bought the Blue Planet brand

I normally buy Philips brand bulbs, but at the time candelabra base bulbs weren't sold. These Blue Planet bulbs were used for 6 months 10 hrs a day. After a period of constant use, the bulbs do loose their brightness and then burn out. Compared to the other brand they are 125 lumens lower, and use only 7 watts vs 9 watts. To add one more thing to add is the colour seems to be off, almost like a hint of blue. The only impressive thing going for these bulbs is they list the CRI value.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Poor Quality

I purchased 8 of these to put in my existing lighting fixture in 2 bathrooms at the last Energy Rebate (Sept 2013). So far, 1 of the 8 burnt out, 2 others flicker and seem like they will burn out soon. The remaining 5 all have different levels of light when they are turned on. They need about 1 min to warm up to its full light.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Screw base size? Diameter, Lenght/Height? What is the meaning of: "...Medium or Intermediate socket..." Is screw base size standard like E12, E14, E24, E27, Candelabra, etc.? What are the dimensions - Diameter, High/Length?

    1 Answer
    • A: Item 052-5377 is discontinued. In its place is 052-5382. This Energy Star CFL bulb is a dual B type Chandelier bulb that may be used in either a medium base fixture (standard bulb base) or a candelabra base fixture , which makes it versatile. The bulb itself is 5 inches long and 1 ½ inches in width.

Q: Can this bulb be used with a dimmer switch

    1 Answer
    • A: No, unless the product specifically says "dimmable" in the name or description, it will not work correctly. Speaking from experience, if you try to use a dimmer switch with a non-dimmable cfl, it will just flicker a little and keep the same brightness, until you turn the switch almost all the way down (at which time it will just turn off!)
