Worst coffee maker ever

THis coffee maker has never brewed a hot cup of coffee. It also gets clogged on a regular basis. After the first pot ended up all over the counter this morning I thoroughly cleaned the entire machine only for the second pot to clog and again end up all over my counter and floor and cupboards. I cannot stress enough that you should only buy this product for your worst enemy. It is a complete mystery to me that this is on a retail shelf for consumers. It is a complete waste of your money and time.Save yourself. Do not buy this machine!!!!

La qualité de ce produit est médiocre. Le café goûte le plastique. Les pièces sont de mauvaise qualité. La mienne a cessé de fonctionner après 10 mois. Black & Decker pour moi sera pour les outils... et encore....
Essayez la marquer Oster. Pour le même prix, c'est vraiment meilleur....

Low cost low quaility

Its low price, but not low enough reflects what you are getting. The flow stop should be checked each time before using it, it can stick resulting in coffee spilling onto your countertop. The coffee temperature is a bit higher then room temperature, which is sort of a good since you will be mopping up coffee after the pot spills over. when the flow stop fails
A starter pack of filters is not included, no indication of this on the box, no indication you need filters. No indication of the size of filters needed.
The printed lettering and arrows on the lid wipe off. Leaving you to guess how the lid fits, eventually you learn how to do it, but do not expect quests to figure it out.
On the good side it is compact light.
If you insist on getting this watch the pot, do not walk away and expect it to work properly.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Black and Decker should stick to tools

This coffee maker design is poor. My maker after only 1 week turns off after 5 seconds so I had to keep pushing button took me over 30 minutes to brew 6 cups of coffee. I took it back did not by or ever will buy Black and Decker coffee machine

Q: does the unit have a heating elment under the pot I have one similar now and the coffee hits the cold pot and itsn't all that warm when you get to it. If the was an elment underneath to keep the pot warm that would help

A: There is no heating element under the pot. This carafe is a 'thermos' that you can leave on the table. To get hotter coffee, pre-heat the pot by rinsing it with hot water just before making coffee. The trade-off is that coffee doesn't get bitter if it sits in this pot all day, unlike the 'heating element' makers.

Q: Can someone explain why mine leaks from the bottom of the machine?

A: If it leaks water, thats a defect - take it back. If it leaks hot coffee, it might be a stuck valve: My wife had several early-morning coffee floods to deal with - the brewed coffee wasn't collecting in the carafe. I took a look, and there is a valve in the centre of the carafe lid that would get stuck closed. I guess they expect the coffee to push it open, and then seal up to keep the heat in. But when it gets stuck, coffee spills over the top of the lid to the counter. I removed the valve and there are no spills now. How? The lid can simply be pried apart with your fingers - look under the rim for the seam. The small plastic valve in the centre can then be yanked out with tweezers, and the lid snapped back together. Carafe rating now a 4 instead of a 1 :-)
