Q: what type of Monofilament fishing line does this fishing rod need

A: That can vary significantly as many different types of line can be used with this rod. It will be mostly dependent on what type of fish you are fishing for. I recommend looking up a fishing line strength chart to get a better idea of what weight line to use for the type of fish you're pursuing, and adjust the drag on the reel to match.
