I have a certified 21" mower that I bought at Cdn Tire. 16" blade works surprisingly well, had to file 2tabs slightly to install. Never dethatched, tried raking, deadly if you are re(tired). This was a breeze as I had moss and weeds and plan to seed the yard afterwards. Ran it low enough to vaporize the moss, got about half the yard done and found high wear and bent barbs. Lowered the deck again and will buy a replacement springs in stock tomorrow. Well worth it, pleased with the results other than springs are soft.

Thatch Dethatched!

Blade does a great job, almost as good as a true dethatcher. Takes a bit of time to do initial setup, but will be quicker the next time. Recommend starting with the springs higher than stated in instructions unless your lawn is super smooth. You can always lower it after trialing.

Bought this with hopes that it would last longer than the plastic rake one. Okay wow it works way way better. I only wish the metal rake part was about an inch longer. Then I could set it with my push mower to be a little more aggressive. Are lawn has had nothing done to it for about 6 years so the dead grass is really in there. All in all I’m really happy with it. We also bought a metal hand rake to pair with this and it works great.

  • A: I just used it on my 21 inch Craftsmen and it worked great. Just remember to overlap your wheel marks more than when you cut your lawn to ensure good coverage.

Q: Dethatcher Can this blade be used on an Electric Lawnmower??? or does it put too much stress on the engine? Please advise

  • A: I wouldn't try it if your mower develops less than 5 hp (3730 W). My guess is that a motor smaller than that would probably stall. Also, since most electric mowers have twin blades, I don't know how you would fit this as it is designed for a single blade mower.

  • A: Thank you for your question. Because this dethatching blade requires extra torque to engage the lawn, it is designed to work with gasoline powered mowers only and should not be adapted to an electric mower.
