    Using specifically for autocross

    I'm on my second set of RE 71RS's. Excellent performance with the first set, so I'm back for round 2. These tires have been fast even as they've worn - I haven't noticed any loss in grip after 120 autocross runs. They wear quickly under racing conditions, but that's expected with a 200TW tire. I bought them for dry weather traction, and they delivered well.

    These are as good or better than old version. I like that they arn't directional and they aren't as loud on the street. I liked them so much i bought 2 sets this summer, one for my street 265/30/19 305/30/19 and another for square 295/30/18 for my track wheels. Excellent performance tires for the street and track.

    Versatile Performance vs. value

    I have owned three sets of Potenza RE-71RS tires all in 17" rim size. This is a predictable performance tire for track, autocross and street use. I has very stiff sidewalls with little flex so that is great for steering response and a sticky compound and broad shoulder. Its a great dry tire and a good wet tire that will hydroplane in deeper standing water! At highway speeds watch standing water! The tire needs a little heat to operate and is more heat tolerant than its main competition. Tire wear is about middle of the road and it will heat cycle out before it wear down on lighter vehicles. You then have another set of road tires that have remaining tread.

    Not a Track Tire

    This is a very fast tire for autocross and single-lap time trials that meet the 200tw ratings. I would not recommend these tires for endurance racing or beyond 2 laps on the track, as they will get 'greasy'. Great tire for canyon drives at high speeds. Does not take much to warm them up. With just canyon runs, you will get 2200-2500 miles out of them - depending on how fast you are. If you add a track day into the mix, that mileage will drop! I use my car for canyon runs & track day events. This is my second set. I would recommend rotating tires every 600 miles if you plan on abusing them.
