Preparing the soil for sod installation

Start by removing rocks, weeds, and debris from the area. Then, loosen the top 2–3 inches of soil using a rake or tiller to improve aeration. Laying and watering your new sod

Once your soil is ready, roll out the sod immediately to prevent drying out. Stagger the seams in a brick-like pattern to create a seamless look and ensure strong root integration. After installation, water the sod deeply, ensuring that the topsoil remains consistently moist but not soggy. Water frequently, especially during the first two weeks, to help the roots take hold and prevent dry patches from forming.

Feeding and maintaining your sod for long-term health

New sod requires a steady supply of nutrients to establish itself fully. About 2–3 weeks after installation, apply Golfgreen NitroGrow+™ Lawn Food to promote deep root growth and vibrant green color. Mow the lawn for the first time when the grass reaches about 3 inches in height, taking care not to remove more than one-third of the blade length.
