Q: What is the water pressure rating of the oil base vs the 20 psi latex base What do you recommend to clean an unpainted cindercrete basement block wall prior to painting with this product. House was built in 1969.

      1 Answer
      • A: The Waterbased Watertite will hold back 20 PSI of water pressure, while its oil-based counterpart will hold back 34 PSI of water pressure. Before using either product on concrete, we recommend the surface be cleaned and rinsed well. If efflorescence is present, a concrete etching compound will help to treat the problem and leave a clean surface behind. Always ensure any cleaner, or etch is rinsed thoroughly, so that no residue remains.

Q: can it be sprayed on with a air spray gun

      1 Answer
      • A: Watertite cannot be sprayed on. The pressure of the roller is what pushes the product into the concrete pores, creating a water-tight finish that cannot be achieved with a spray-on coat.

      Q: Can it be tinted?

      1 Answer
      • A: Zinsser WaterTite tints easily to beige, blue, and gray, It can also be tinted to other off-white and pastel tones. Maximum amount of tint should not exceed 1.5 ounces (30 ml) per gallon. Mix on a mechanical shaker for 7-9 minutes or use a drill motor. Multiple containers of tinted paint should be boxed (intermixed) to ensure color uniformity.
