Zhu Zhu Hamster House Starter Set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put this set together last night for my kids (6 and 3) and it took me quite a while. The instructions weren't terribly clear, so there was a learning curve. I think my kids got it taken apart in less than 2 minutes. It's not terribly sturdy and the three main pieces don't stay hooked together easily. In spite of the set not staying together, my kids loved it. They used the pet with the three main pieces separately, and even ran the zhu zhu pet around on the hardwood floors without the set at all. It really kept them entertained and they enjoyed playing with it. There was a little frustration when they tried to put it back together and the pieces wouldn't stay in place, but other than that it really kept their attention. I only wish it came with a second pet, to make it easier to use together without having to take turns.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter loves this product. She loves animals but isn't gentile enough for real, small pets. This is the best of both worlds, the play and fun of having a hampster, and none of the mess of the live pet. Zhu has gone everywhere with us since he came home. She wakes him up in the morning, and puts him to bed at night.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received the Hampster House playset with Winkie. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble the ramp. I assemble a lot of toys but these instructions were pretty poor and confusing causing me to misaseble the ramp at least once. Once assembled it barely wants to stay together, so disappointing. My child was super excited to try Winkie’s different modes while I assembled the Hampster House. Loved the dancing and snuggle mode! Once it was all assembled my kiddo couldn’t wait to send Winkie up and down the slide and see him run around the dining room afterwords. Super adorable! We’ve now had he playset for a couple of weeks and I’m sad to report that Winkie has had very little replay action. My child isn’t really interested in the playset or even just to play with Winkie on our floor. If your child already has other Zhu Zhu hampsters, this might be a nice addition. But the fragile slide and house wouldn’t be where I would start if just introducing the toys to your child.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I believe the Hamster House Playset is a terrific, fun idea in theory, but unfortunately the playset and included Zhu Zhu Pet do not work well together. First, I think everyone should know that this is a breeze to put together and the instructions are easy enough to follow. There could be more written instructions for those who do not like picture diagrams, but this is a minor observation. The Zhu Zhu Pet moves around flawlessly in the circular portion and tunnel of the playset. The real trouble comes when the Zhu Zhu tries to make its way down the spiral ramp. It gets stuck in two areas and has to be placed back upright. It seems as if the Zhu Zhu Pet is too wide for the ramp. I ensured that all parts were connected properly, but this failed to fix this issue. The ramp could be widened or the Zhu Zhu Pet could be skinnier...maybe a little less at dinner time! No matter the drawbacks, my kids and their friends enjoyed playing with the playset and Zhu Zhu Pet. They even disconnected the spiral ramp and allowed the Zhu Zhu to fall to the floor where most of the time it would fall and keep going! A neat find for an adjustment made by a 7 and 4 year old. Overall the Zhu Zhu Pet is fluffy and makes cute sounds. It dances, spins around and made my 2 year old laugh hysterically! Just the Zhu Zhu itself was great fun. The only problem we had was who was going to sleep with the Zhu Zhu Pet on which night! Overall I gave the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster House Playset a 4 out of 5. If the spiral ramp issue is fixed to be more robust then this would be a 5/5! My kids are still playing with it and exploring new ways to set up the playset. The Kamikaze Zhu Zhu is by far the most entertaining setup, but the dancing Zhu Zhu is a close second. Honorable mention goes to the 100 meter tunnel dash my 10 year old son set up. I would recommend this to my friends and family - especially if the spiral ramp issue is fixed. Pictures to follow!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter absolutely loves her Zhu Zhu pets hamster and hampster house playser. Zhu Zhu hamsters are so cute and adorable . Zhu Zhu's are electronic hamsters that are unpredictable and silly – you never know what they’ll do or say next as they take off, spinning and whizzing across the floor! Even her per cat joined in on the fun, kept trying to catch the little hampster. Hours of fun to be had with this playser. Love that my daughter loves her playset and wants more Zhu Zhu hampster to play with. Totally safe for toddlers and small children.
