Cheap unsafe tool. Save yourself a second trip to return it. Avoid.

No safety considerations are present in this chainsaw. No chain stop or auto break. Be warned. Chain skipped of the bar after three cuts though the chain was tensioned prior. Overall likely unsafe tool with no safety features. But it did cut well out of the box. I feel it is not worth a purchase. More of a single use chainsaw. That should not be thing. ;) I’ll be returning it for these reasons. (Do not recommend). Safe yourself the extra trip to return this tool.

Excellent saw!

I had one before and sold it in a garage sale when I thought I didn’t need it anymore. Big mistake! It works really well and will handle some pretty good sized wood. Has good reach and is not to heavy. When I did something stupid with it and had to repair it Yardworks was great to deal with! Great product!

Great little machine!

Bought this to handle some over grown trees in our yard and was very happy with its performance, cut branches well, had plenty of power ( so many of the battery powered ones lack power) over all for the price it’s the best unit to get the job done safely and efficiently IMO!

Great Little Chainsaw

Purchased this at the beginning of this month and just today used it for cutting limbs off low handing tress. Hubby said it was quite heavy using the pole extending to the end but he managed to cut limbs about 3-4" in diameter and they cut easily. I even tried it without the pole and it is so easy to use, first time I have used a chainsaw! Hubby was in forestry in the past and used gas chainsaws daily and now retired , he still gets firewood with a gas chainsaw. I have never wanted to try a gas powered chainsaw, not feeling comfortable with them, especially having to pull a cord. Very happy with it; not sure how long it will last but right now "it is great!" especially on sale!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 28 Questions

Q: How do you tighten the chain? It keeps on becoming loose after every cut. There is no auto tightening as mentioned in the description. The cover of the sprocket becomes raised on the left as you tighten the chain cover lock knob.

  • A: First know how tight or loose your chain should be. Snug it up as properly needed by tightening the knob. Take your time to get to know your tool.

Contacted them and they didn't know anything about the replacement pole. Where can I find the replacement pole for this saw? Please Help!!!

Q: Where to get parts

2 Answers
  • A: Hang on a minute! You purchased the chainsaw from Canadian Tire and when you ask them where you could source the parts, they forward the question to their “analysts”, who happen to be their customers like you and I, who offer “feedback-through-experience” to those in need of assistance. That’s ridiculous! Anyway, I would simply call Canadian Tire, where you bought it, right!  WRONG!

Q: You mentioned earlier that you put grease in a small grey hole in the tip of the bar near where it says 10". Does the chainsaw come with this grease and if not, then what type of grease do you need to use? Does it need grease to be able to use?

2 Answers
  • A: The pole chain saw does not come with either grease for the tip sprocket, or chain/bar oil. CT does sell a plunger type greaser for chain saw tip sprockets. It comes pre-loaded with grease for that exact purpose which can be re-loaded with grease when emptied. High temparature grease is probably required. I would definitely grease the sprocket tip to ensure smooth operation as well as bar longevity.

Q: What is the largest thickness of a branch this saw can cut?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello there! Thank you for your inquiry. The Yardworks 9‑Amp 2‑in‑1 Electric Pole Saw / Chainsaw is equipped with a 10‑inch guide bar, which means it can practically cut branches up to about 8 inches in diameter. This allows adequate clearance for safe control and efficient chain movement, making it well suited for pruning and limbing medium‑sized branches rather than cutting large tree trunks. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!

Q: anyone have a part number for the chain?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello Valued Customer, Thank you for your question. The part number we recommend is through the Oregon Chain Brand - 91PX040G. This will have the 40 Drive Links, 050" Gauge, 3/8" LP Pitch required for your chain! These details can be found in your manual for reference. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!
