It sucks but it it's good.

It works terrible but that's the point. This won't be good in extreme cold or extremely thick ice but it's enough to do small jobs or just add grit to ice so you don't slip. You definitely need to keep some stronger ice melt on hand for tougher jobs but this is a good every day melt if you care about your and other peoples animals.

Great pet safe ice melter, Cdn Tire needs to get stock on the large pail again !!! Annoying it's only in smaller versions for the past 2 years.

It was a solid block at room temperature when we got it. Maybe it was a dud? We switched to one that is rated for colder temperatures

Q: Has anyone had their Yardworks PawProtect liquify? I went to use it this morning, and the bottom of the pail was a solid lump of purple pellets. I cracked it into pieces and scooped the mess onto puppy pee pads to soak up the liquid.

A: Yes ... bought last year and when got it home it was half liquified. Of course CAD Tire refunded but pretty strange. Believed it was possibly from the prior year and left outside in the summer months in storage. I see it's not available in this container anymore seems "out of stock". The smaller container is much easier to use although more expensive.

Q: Anyone know how I get into the big tube? Th lid won’t budge!!!!! Not happy!

A: Yep it’s a tough lid. On one side there is a tiny tab break that tab. And pry the lid back in a curly like motion. So pry towards the middle. It helps if the lid is nice and warm unused a hair dryer to warm the plastic don’t try and pry it off outside as you will break your fingers.

A: Its a nightmare, the tab breaks off when you do eventually find it - honestly just get a big screwdriver and hack it to pieces

Q: How do you open the 11.5 kg container of yardworks paw protect ice melter?

A: There’s a pull tab around the bottom of the lid. You grasp the pull tab and tear it off, and the lid can be easily removed and replaced as necessary.
