Auger worm gear busted while shear pins stay still

Purchased early 2023 at Canadian Tire. I had hit the rock covered under the snow and it caused the worm gear cracked. I just needed a worm gear only so that I can replace the gear but I couldn't get that worm gear and ended up to buy whole gear assembly. That was a couple of year ago. Yesterday I hit a wood branch that is under the snow and auger stopped again. Engine still fine but when I engage the auger, squealing noise and auger doesn't turn and engine stalls. I pulled it apart it turned out to be exact same as a couple of year ago, worm gear busted. How come those shear pins didn't break? Those shear pins are supposed to break so that its shock must stay away from the gear box assembly. Never did it. Now I am having a hard time to find the part either just worm gear or the whole gear box. Canadian Tire put thier own model number and no one knows what MTD model number is. Spent whole lot of time calling Champion Power Equipment phone but no human answers. Think twice if you are thinking to but this one.

Great unit exept no chain addition option so far.

I have had this model for 2 years and it was present to replace my B & S, works great starts easily manually on first pull from cold. Electric works well if i need to; wheels don't grab so well on incline especially with fluffy snow , i contacted the company about it and inquired about adding chains, they promptly sent me a new set of wheels, good to have spare but what i really would prefer is a set of chains or like accessory that fit the machine. I am concerned that if i aquire some there may not be enough clearance between the inner weel part and the housing.

Very disappointed

used 2 times in 23', went to start in 24', put all new gas. won't start. Engine seemed to struggle last year. I'm guessing it has engine problems. very disappointed with this machine with little use and problems already. Had a Craftsman snowblower previously and it ran for over 10 years with little maintenance.

Was there gasoline left sitting in the sitting in the engine or carburetor? Did you use stabilizer to ensure the fuel remained fresh? If gasoline is left untreated for an extended period of time, it will eventually go bad, causing a hard start on the engine.

A: Generally speaking, it is two hand operated, but you can let go of the right hand auger "paddle" to operate the shoot and the auger will continue to do it's thing. To steer the snowblower, both hands should be ised

Q: how does the smart steer option work? I find there is no type of "power steering". Seems to me the feature doesn't do anything?
