I got this machine Dec/23 for Christmas. Only used 3x & each and every time the cable for changing speeds snaps!!! it then gets stuck in 6th gear. Piece of Junk

A: Thank you for your question. The convenient electric start function on this snow thrower can be used with any extension cord rated for 15 amps at 125 volts, grounded and rated for outdoor use (extension cord is not included with the snow thrower).

Q: What size and type of sheer pin do I need for a replacement?

A: Mine came with extra shear pins which I just measured. They are 1/4" bolts, 1 1/2" in length (1/ 5/8" if you include the head) and are not threaded, instead use a pin. These should be readily available at any Canadian Tire store.

A: According to the manual, you can find a list of service centres at their website, www.mtdcanada.ca or contact Customer Service at 800-668-1238 before attempting to return the item to the dealer. I bought mine two weeks ago and still waiting for snow; however, this machine was highly recommended by a good friend who purchased his three years ago.
