I decided not to purchase these because they do not include a built-in cap to secure the tarp/awning to the tip of the pole. Other products available online have such a cap, ideally connected via a tether so that it doesn’t get misplaced.

On the plus side, they are long and they did not collapse after 3 weeks of use in wind and rain. The negatives are that aluminum will bend and one of our 4 poles did so when wind pulled our tarp. Now that pole was very difficult to collapse and will have to be replaced. As well, they were holding a fair bit of water when we took them down. They give the appearance of being water tight but are not.

Q: Does this come with an attached cap for the top of the pole to ensure that the tarp/awning stays secured?

A: No, it is wxactly as you see it. The pokey bit is made to fit into a grommet. If you want to use it in the center of your tarp, where no grommet exists, stick the pokey bit into the ground, and use the blunt end under your tarp,
