What's the point, if it isn't waterproof!?

Don't buy this tent, if you intend to use it camping. You'll get wet when it rains. The water drips in from the roof, and runs like a river through the seams around the bottom. It is definitely spacious, and easy to set up...but what is the point, if it isn't waterproof?

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Fair-weather tent

We were so disappointed with this tent. It had such great reviews. On our first trip with it, we were hit by a big thunderstorm. Tons of rain, no wind, but this tent couldn't hack it. Rain was coming in from the roof through the chimney vents, it was seeping through the seams on the sides, it was awful. We packed up at 4 in the morning tired of being rained on and went back home. Returned it the next day.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    An okay tent

I was really looking forward to this tent after the reviews I'd read about it. The tent itself is just fine. It's easy to set up and while one person likely could do the set up alone, it's far easier to have a second person. This is just due to the height of the tent, and mostly related to putting the rain fly on. This tent is huge inside! It says it fits seven people, and we camped two adults-two children and had plenty of space inside for air mattress and sleeping bags, as well as our bags of clothes. I also enjoyed being able to stand upright in this tent. Take down is as simple as put up, and this definitely can be accomplished by one person. I was disappointed that after the first use, the bottom section ripped approximately 5cm along the floor where the tent peg strap is located, right by the front door. We patched with duct tape while we were camping to keep out moisture and insects. The tent was not pulled or yanked by the peg holders, so while we know it happened when we set it up, we don't know exactly when it happened. My husband and I also spent a bit of time picking out tiny metal slivers from the tent poles in our hands! The poles themselves did not feel like they would adequately hold up the tent, however they did stand up through quite a bit of wind and tree-debris falling on the tent. Even though the floor of this tent is plastic-like, and not fabric like our old tent, it still had water seepage, despite having a footprint beneath the tent - and this was during a time of dry weather! While there was no pooling, there was a definite damp portion in the centre of the tent, and my sock soaked up the moisture. I don't imagine that the bottom would repel wetness very well in a time of actual rain, if this occurred when there was no precipitation. The tent pegs that come with this tent are also very thin and flimsy. There are definite pros and cons to this particular tent, and perhaps we had a defective one with the ripping and the floor wetness issues. However, the size, ease of set up and take down are all huge bonuses in my opinion. Good luck!

    Questions

    1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: Is there a way to find assembly instructions for the Woods Northwest 7 tent? I purchased last year but didn't use it. Now plan to use it and realized there are no instructions. I can probably figure it out (a tent is a tent, right?!), but just in case ...
