Exactly Five Years
We bought this dehumidifier exactly five years ago and have had it running daily in our basement. It has worked extremely well and we wanted to buy this exact one again but they are our of stock at CT and can't find any other place where they sell this in Canada. When it is running it is louder than expected and loud enough that we have to shut it off when we watch t.v. It's in the basement so it doesn't bother us much. It does suck up a ton of moisture! In the summer we empty it twice a day, in the winter we empty it once every two or three days. The moisture level goes from 87% to 45% in an hour.
Only thing is that the warranty expired exactly this month, five years ago to the date, just about. Last week it started making a loud banging sound from inside the machine. We can't open it to see what the problem is. We had to turn it off because the noise and banging became so strong and loud the machine started shaking around the basement floor!
Time for a new one, and would like to buy this one again, but can't.
Yes, I recommend this product.

My house was humid, now its not as humid. Plain and simple, this product works.
Its loud, so I wouldn't recommend cuddling with it at night. In the basement its not noticeable.

A: Yes, 16 feet long, clear, flexible and quite thick walled to resist being pinched off (but not crush proof!)

Q: Does the fan automatically shut off?
I can't find a setting that results in the fan shutting off. The compressor shuts off at the right humidity level, but the fan just keeps going on all settings.

Q: Question about warranty?
It states that "This product carries a 5 year repair only warranty redeemable at any Canadian Tire store". Does this mean I can return it to the store at any point during the 5 years for service should I have any problems with it?

A: No!!! The warranty is only 1 yr parts and labour. Which works out to 6 months taking the time need to jump through all the hoops needed to get a Return Authorization. The other 4 years are parts only which you have to pay $100 to have the Warranty company tech tell you what is wrong with and how much to fix. Usually it is the sealed unit and it is not repairable. So your SOL and out $100 diagnostic for nothing.
If anything is wrong with the unit, you have 29 days make it 28 to be safe to return the unit to the store. But that information is no where to be found in the Description or specs. You only get a Card in the box saying to deal with the Warranty company if anything is wrong.

Q: Can we use the pump all the time or only to empty the bucket when it is full? I need to let it work while I am out for a long time.

A: The pump and the dehumidifier can run all the time for continuous draining. The whole unit has passed 2000+ hours non-stop liability test.

Q: Auto restart & 24 hr timer
Does this unit have auto restart in the event of a power outage?
Does it have 24 hour timer to program when the unti will run?
2 Answers
A: The operation of the 24 hr timer depends on if the unit is running or not. If running, the timer sets how much longer the unit runs before turning off. If unit is off, timer sets how long before unit turns on. As far as I can tell, it's not like a programmable light timer.
To program on and off times, you could try plugging unit into a heavy duty lamp timer. The unit will act as if the power was restored and resume operating with the previous fan and humidity settings.

Q: is there an auto shut off when bucket is full? (besides just a light to indicate full?)
2 Answers
A: Yes, there is a float. As the bucket fills, the float rises and eventually pushes a switch to turn off the unit automatically. This unit also has a pump to pump water to a floor drain or up into a wash tub. No need to empty bucket. A third option is it offers gravity drain to a floor drain. So 3 options: 2 different drain cocks and the bucket.

Vers quel modèle me tourner ?
