Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap.

If the trap is not staying set, the trigger rod may not be fully engaged in the plastic pedal catch. When setting the trap, pull the kill bar back firmly and place the end of the trigger rod into the pedal catch using the most sensitive setting that still holds securely. Be sure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface, as uneven placement can affect the trigger mechanism.

Absolute garbage, the plastic piece would not hold the trigger tried too many times, the old metal ones worked fine.

Q: Is this rat trap large enough to kill a squirrel

  • A: I killed a couple of squirrels with the rat trap. I needed to cut a couple of inches of a 750ml soda bottle to make an arch that blocks the side of the spring and forces the squirrel to come in straight on. The arch needs to be high enough to allow the spring to clear.

  • A: No the hole is to small for a squirrel to fit. Try Victors Quick Set Quick Kill snap traps or rat traps.

Q: I have a rodent in my house, only saw it for a split second, not sure what it is. Will this trap kill smaller rodents as well? I don't want to set mouse traps in case I have a rat. Are rat traps my best bet in this situation?

Q: I have squirrels and a rat. I just purchased the rat trap. Scared to set it :( , however I don’t want the squirrels to get hurt. You say they eat with their paws? I just want to make sure  that is true. Thanks
