Fine skates, but GET THEM SHARPENED!

These skates have a comfortable boot, decent support and even look alright. They were my choice in a pinch as they had no staff available to sharpen, these came pre-sharpened, and I was in a huge hurry (forgot skates for an out of town tournament). They did the job and got my son on the ice by warm ups, but that pre-sharpening?! Man… the radius was smaller than I have ever seen… I don’t even know if it was 1/4”. While appreciate the thought of coming “ready to skate” out of the box, they were near impossible to stop in. I had to try and dull them on the bench with plastic… a puck… wood… metal… I eventually took a stone directly to the bottom of the blade and STILL, they were way too sharp. After the game I brought them to get sharpened when I had time and the technicians called other staff over to show everyone the craziness of the blades. So yes. Very good price point, work well for younger kids and my son likes them now… but just pretend they come without that sharpening. The bite they had out of the box would be enough to make most newcomers to skating quit when they can’t turn or stop properly.

Q: if i am a size 39.5 EU should I size down and get these skates in size 6?

A: According to the shoe chart online, yes your size would be a 6. Please take note of the proper skates fitting posted at Canadian Tire where the skates are. They are very easy to follow for best fitting. It’s a black and white poster.
