Horrible lock!

Purchased this to lock my bike rack to my trailer hitch. One year later, I was unable to insert the key, both salt and sand build up collected in the key slot. Tried everything......hot water, CLR, WD-40, nothing work. In the end I took a ball hammer and after 3 hard wacks, it snapped off. Avoid this lock at all costs, unless you like ball hammers!

Great if you keep it inside the vehicle

I bought this to provide peace of mind that my bike rack, offroad shackle mount or drawbar would not get stolen. After just over one year of use, the lock seized completely and no amount of heating, spraying or lubricating would get a key into the lock. I had to cut it off with a sawzall. I was very careful to make sure the rubber cover was properly fitted. I did not use the lock during winter except for a few weekends of offroading. The rest of the winter saw the lock inside the truck. I would suggest looking at a different design or liberally applying WD-40 or other water-shedding lubricant inside the lock monthly.
