Nice Pads, not a great XSporter Fit

I like these pads. They don't have a lot of branding and they look nice and pad my surfboards well. However, they don't fit well on my xsporter pro racks. I want to have them closer to the edge of the bars and the velcro wraps run into where the bar connects to the rack, the "t-joint". I wish they had pads designed for the truck racks!

Best pad for large Thule Track Rack system!

The best pad for the large Track Rack system! Perfect protection for my windsurfing equipment, paddle boards or kayaks after work. Plus as an outside HVAC sales contactor they look professional on my Z71 crew cab truck bed, and protect my rack from ladders. I ordered the largest pads, however, with the three section's of the pad Velcro attachment flaps that wrap the Thule bar, I could only use the inner two because of the Thule outer rack vertical supports. To avoid the vertical support, I attached and folded the pad outer Velcro flaps under the pad, sitting directly on rack top to the outer edge. To keep the wind from becoming an issue when nothing is on the pads, I added single strap Velcro "one wrap tape" that self grips on the ends. Problem solved!!

BAD FIT!

Good product but in spite of website saying they would fit my Thule racks, the velcro only overlapped 1/2" which is definetly not enough for 60+ mph highway winds.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your Thule Surf Pads. I am sorry to hear the pads did not fit your rack system as expected, but I'm glad our customer support team was able to connect to discuss the issue.
Thule Surf Pads fit various size crossbars, depending on the model. The "wide" size is able to cover crossbars of a similar size to Thule WingBar Evo crossbars up to Thule Xsporter Pro crossbars. However, thicker crossbars will have less overlap on the hook-and-loop fasteners.
Because of their quick and easy installation, Thule Surf Pads are intended to be removed when not in use. When secured to the bars beneath a surfboard and strapped securely, there should be no issues with staying attached to the crossbars.

I have some of your Thule surf rack pads already in 24 inch. Was hoping to get another set for a second car. Can't find??? The 20 inch are okay but not as good

These look great and I wanted to love them, but can't. I installed on a Volvo XC90 with Thule Wingbars and the wind vibration is terrible (the Wingbars by themselves make no noise). Based on the speed it can range from "why is my subwoofer so active?" to "am I having catastrophic drivetrain failure!?" The entire vehicle shakes and makes me nauseous. I guess I can just take them on and off each time I want to use them, but I'd prefer not to. My return window has expired, so I will just live with these until I find an alternative solution.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Unfortunately, adding any accessory to the top of a vehicle can increase the wind resistance and noise generated, especially for more streamline and aerodynamic vehicles. The good news is, the Thule Surf Pads are designed to be easily installed and removed thanks to the hook-and-loop closures, so it is easy to take them off the vehicle when not in use to avoid loud wind resistance noise.
