    hose reel

biggest piece of junk you can waste your money on. Plastic is poor and handle slips and becomes useless.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Hose Reel

I've had two of these. Number one lasted 8 years before one end of the axle at the crank end literally fell apart. The plastic had become brittle over time shattering. While it stays outside year round it's always shaded. Sunlight not a factor. Water is blown out by compressed air for winter. 225' of 5/8's hose would be a stretch if solid rubber hose. The 150' of 1/2 inch rubber hose I use on mine about its limit. Like number one number two installed Nov.,'16 does not leak except when the hose loosens where attached on the reel or at the side inlet due to usage. Parts snap together somewhat flimsily except for the axle which requires significant force to put together properly. You may think it's together based on the way other parts have performed leading up to axle assembly but isn't until you hear a loud SNAP! Not a bad deal IF you catch it on sale.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Leaky from the start

This reel leaked from the connector that the garden hose itself connects to. It has since day one. I tightened it and tightened it until the leak stopped (any more and I'm sure the connector would have broken). Then, when I started to reel up the hose, it started leaking again. Apparently the weight of the hose is too much for the poor plastic connector (which is also hard to get started without cross-threading which, fortunately, I haven't done...yet). I'm going to toss this loser to the curb and find something better.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Poorly Built

First one didn't last a year before it started leaking. The second unit was so poorly built, like other reviewers, I had to remove plastic material to get parts to snap together.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bad design, a pain to assemble!

I agree with another review that this is the worst piece of plastic design for a hose reel. Took a few frustrating hours to put together and had to do a small notch out where the centre plastic hose adapter comes up., otherwise the two halves would not snap together. Instructions are barely readable and confusing. The snap in long bars don't snap in very well and it's flimsy unless you mount it with 4 screws on a piece of 18 x 18 plywood first. I would expect a product made in China to be this bad but on the box it says Made in USA,,,,pity!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Attachment and leaks 1) how does this attach to the side of your house? 2) for those who've had leaking problems, has anyone tried teflon/plumbers tape?

    • A: You have to screw it onto a piece of 20"x20" plywood first, it is too flimsy and needs a good base of 3.4" plywood, treated with preservative. The plywood can be be attached to your house depending on the type of siding used. I would not recomment attaching it to your house directly, as its very flimsy due to the poor snap in fit of the cross bars.
