Solid Purchase

This is a convection heater therefore has no fan, I'm not sure what some of these reviews are talking about. It is great on my boat, I use it in a dry confined spot and it radiates heat perfectly. Low maintenance and high perfomrance.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Over 10 years old and still going strong

We've had this heater for more than 10 years. It still works perfectly - it's quiet and does the job well and doesn't take much hydro.

Sunbeam 1500/750 watt Convection Heater
First things first. People writing reviews should mention the product they are writing about because this Sunbeam electric heater is a CONVECTION heater which means NO FAN and many of the complaints below involve a DIFFERENT heater with a fan.
There is nothing wrong with this convection heater. It is silent operation with two power settings. In a well insulated house this heater will provide excellent supplementary heating very easily in a room up to 300 square feet even using the 750 Watt power mode. Early in the morning when my wood stove has cooled down this heater heats my 14' x 18' bedroom easily even when it is -37 celsius outside. I have it set to kick in if my bedroom drops below 20 celsius and it cycles off more than it is on. If you have a poorly insulated home you might need the 1500 Watt power mode. If the higher power mode doesn't heat your room, then it's a problem with your windows or insulation, not the heaters fault.
I hope this is helpful.

Q: I just bought it. I did not get an instruction manual. It is making a humming noise and there is a hot smell. Any comments?
The unit I bought has the same item number but is different than the photo above: the controls on the one that I bought are on the front not the top.

Q: The fan isn't turning on.
I've misplaced my user instruction manual (I bought this product in March 07), and now the unit isn't turning on. I can smell something starting but there is no heat emanating from the heater. Any suggestions?

Q: is this safe for a bathroom?
1 Answer
A: We do not recommend this heater for a bathroom. We recommend that only heaters equipped with an ALCI safety plug should be used in a bathroom. This is for safety reasons. The ALCI plug prevents a shock hazard in the event that the heater comes in contact with water. Thank you.
Q: Does this get hot to the touch at all? Would it be safe for a childs room?

A: Our heaters are hot when in use. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by, or near children or invalids, and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
