Seemed like a nice real when purchased, lasted 2 seasons then the free spool wore out. now it randomly goes into freespool while retrieving, and when setting the hook. had to replace it. you can find much better quality reels for this price. Glad I did not pay Canadian Tire full price for it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Nice Bait Caster

Good little real I keep on a backup rod, would be nice if it was all metal pieces but it does have plastic parts, casts nice and smooth and is lightweight. Like I mentioned it is good for a backup, an extra rod in the boat or for a beginner. Very easy to use and maintain.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Will i be able to use this in salt water? I have had other spinning reels and they will start to rust or seize up after a being used in salt water. I even would wash the reel of all salt after going fishing. Will this happen to this reel?

    1 Answer
    • A: All reels will rust if used in salt water environments. There are units that are deemed “salt water” reels and they have a salt guard added to the metal surfaces and will hold up longer. The Strike reels do not have the salt guard and will over time the reel will deteriorate to the point it won’t work but the time frame depends upon conditions and how it is taken care of. Typically, a true salt water reel is more expensive due to the coatings.

Q: I purchased this reel for the fast 7.0:1 ratio. To fish heavy vegetation, I need to use 25lb test which is higher than you recommend. Comments?

    1 Answer
    • A: 25lb test is ok. You will just be limited to the amount of line the reel will hold. The line capacity will be reduced due to the line diameter but should perform fine.
