Great Little Trailer

I purchased this Stirling trailer to replace a 20 year old Snowbear trailer that I also bought from Canadian Tire. This new trailer is so much improved over the Snowbear. It is much more solid, is far less noisy behind the car and the gate latches are much better. It is a well built trailer and since it is galvalume it should not rust like my previous trailer. I am very happy with this purchase so far.

Good little trailer

The trailer has been good so far. The only issue is that the metal deck is quite thin; I will have to add a sheet of plywood to make sure it is protected adequately.

Panneau arrière différent

Je suis déçu car le magasin de rivière du loup n’a pas voulu me commander celui comme sur la photos. Celui que j’ai acheté à le même numéro de produit mais le panneau arrière est différent. J’ai demandé s’ils pouvaient changer le panneau et ils m’ont dit non. Je le voulais car il avait une réduction de 300$

Nous comprenons parfaitement votre déception, surtout lorsque le produit reçu ne correspond pas à ce qui était présenté sur les photos. Le modèle vendu chez Canadian Tire a effectivement évolué. En 2024, il s’agissait du modèle 48-084-TDD, doté de panneaux avant et arrière de style « boîte deluxe ». Cependant, à partir de la mi-2025, il a été remplacé par le 48-084-TBL. Cette nouvelle version comprend un panneau avant de style boîte régulier ainsi qu’une rampe arrière de 3 pieds (type « landscape gate »), ce qui explique la différence constatée.

Tous les modèles actuellement expédiés de notre usine sont désormais des 48-084-TBL, même si le numéro de produit en magasin peut parfois rester le même, ce qui peut prêter à confusion.
Nous comprenons que cette situation soit frustrante, surtout dans le contexte de votre achat.

Q: Is this a new model with a ramp, so you can drive in with a small motorcycle or snowmobile? The existing item #040-8044-2 in the store and pictures from reviews does not have a ramp, and nobody in the store knows about the model shown by the pictures.

Q: The hinges on the trailer at the store where it is in stock have surface rust on them. Should I be concerned? Trailer was left outdoors all winter. Can surface rust be removed? Or can hinges be replaced?

  • A: I am not an expert but the trailer is made of galvanized steel which does not rust easily. Hinges are thick enough to withstand surface rust.

Q: Can you drive a lawn tractor on this trailer with the gate on the back? Or do I need to get ramps?

  • A: No, you will need to get ramps. I made ramps and hooked them on to the gate in the normal down position, for my 30” lawnmower. For the extra weight of a lawn tractor, you might want to release the gate chain and hook the ramps right on the trailer bed.

Q: can this be used to load a snowmobile which is 500 lbs and 4 feet wide and 10 feet long?

  • A: The trailer width is 4 feet, 1.5 inches, the length with the front down is 8 feet 6 inches. Seems a little short for the 10 ft snowmobile.

  • A: This trailer has a gross weight (empty weight + cargo weight) of 2000 lbs. Class II hitch can pull up to 3500 lbs. So yes, you can haul this trailer with a class II hitch
