This was my second Starfrit Meat Grinder. I can't remember what was wrong with the first one, but I still have the base. The second one I returned the next day as the part that holds the blades in place was impossible for me to remove. I even asked a neighbour (whose hands are much larger than mine) to try and he couldn't get it off either. Both grinders worked well as far as making hamburger (and lamb burger) but if you can't clean the appliance properly, it's not worth keeping.
