      nice strainer, bad vacuum seal.

I bought this thermal mug over a thermos one because I liked the strainer, it is simple design and easy to clean. It does however lack a cup that can be drunk out of except in perhaps emergencies. It also has nice padding on the bottom which means it stands flat on a table and is soft when put down. The one complaint I have with the strainer is that can't pour water when it is in, so have to put the tea inside, pour the water, then put the strainer in and the lid. At first the seal also worked well, just as advertisied, after pouring in hot tea it was cool to the touch, and kept the contents warm for hours afterwards. The seals longevity however of this Oril thermal mug was incredibly lacking. At first it worked fine, but after a few weeks the top lid split into two parts, the plastic insert and the metal top, seems it was simply hot glued in. Now about a month after purchase with regular use the vauum seal of the bottle itself has broken. so now the bottle is very hot after pouring tea in, and the tea only stays warm as long as it would in a metal cup. I've had other vacuum bottles that lasted me for years, and even after many bumps and bruises still retained heat. I think that if Oril can't get their vacuum seal straight, they should just stuff it with styrofoam, at least the longevity would be better. But barring that you're probably better off going for a reputable vacuum bottle brand like Thermos.

No, I do not recommend this product.
