Was satisfied, but now...

Bought this safe a couple of years ago and it suited my needs well enough until out of the blue the key will no longer open it! It will not turn at all.
There is clearly nothing inside pushing against the door or locking mechanism. I tried what I know but couldn't unlock the cabinet - I guess this is better than having it locked in the open position. Called a locksmith who was also unable to get it open so they suggested drilling the lock. I'm now faced with buying a new safe.
I called the number for Stack-On to see if I could order a new lock. That way I can call the locksmith back out to drill the lock and install the new lock. I received a message at the Stack-On number saying there is no one to take my call. Frustrating.
Difficult to recommend a product when it failed.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Alright on sale, not worth full price

There’s minimal setting up to do, but it’s a pain for one person. Would be a breeze for two. Like others have said, there’s no way one fits 18 guns in here unless they are tiny. I have it set up for shelving on one side, the other side fits my 5 firearms with room for 2 more, max. Note that the top shelf doesn’t go all the way back, so the longer shotguns can be lined up there or put in the very front. Scoped rifles will be a problem if you have many of them. Otherwise, keeps things safe and organised. Note: will scratch at absolutely nothing. Also, a side by side shotgun doesn’t fit very well in here.

Q: Is this cabinet compatible with the Stack On pistol cabinet? Can it be fastened on the top of this cabinet like it can with the 10 gun cabinet?

A: Yes. The bolt holes line up and they are the same width. The pistol cabinet is not as deep, and the two backs line up, leaving space at the front (which is where I put my (empty) transport case -Canada tire toolbox).

A: There are 4 scope standoffs included with the 18 gun cabinet when purchased. And yes, they can be acquired separately by calling customer service and ordering. The customer service number is 1-800-323-9601x 5100 or 5121

Q: How high are the barrel rests placed? Are there different height levels you can place the barrel rests at, or is there only one level of drilled holes that are for them?

A: The barrel rests are stationary but they come with 'stand-off's" on this model. This keeps the scoped rifles away from the walls and provides for one position storage. Sized to accept rifles as well as side-by-side shotguns.

A: The cabinet itself is assembled. The only thing that needs to be done is configure the inside. It is a fully convertible which means you are able to set it up as you want (all firearm storage, half firearm storage\half shelves or all shelves. It is a great item
