Fuel protection

Does what it says and lasts all winter

I always keep a bottle around

There's no way to test its efficacy except to note that I never have gummed up carbs on any of my dozen or so small engines since I started using this a few years ago. Some of my small engines sit unused for over a year at a time. Great product and an inexpensive part of a preventative maintenance plan.

Q: For lawnmower storage in winter, and snow blower storage in summer, is it better to use the fuel stabilizer and full tank of gas than empty the gas tank? or either way is OK, empty gas or full gas with stabilizer

2 Answers
  • A: I have a craftsmen lawnmower I have always run my lawnmower dry for winter, a friend told me to use stabilizer with a full tank, I have never done that before so I bought a bottle, so to make sure before I used it, I still had my owners manual to make sure I read the owners manual and I was right and it said to run the run the tank dry, so if you still have your owners manual read what is says, I hope this helps you, Dennis

Q: Safe to use with MotoMaster Fuel Stabilizer? I just put MotoMaster Fuel Stabilizer (38-0909-2) in a full tank of gas and realized that it is not suitable for ethanol blends. Can I add this to the tank now as well, or will it cause problems? I am storing my vehicle for the winter.

1 Answer
  • A: Hello Gianni, Yes, you may use our Fuel Stabilizer to properly store your fuel for the winter. As long as the proper dosage is followed for both products and there is now over-dosage there should be no problems.

Q: Is the description correct? Description states "For all 2-cylinder and 4-cylinder gasoline engines." Should that be "For all 2-stroke and 4-stroke gasoline engines?"

1 Answer
  • A: 2 Stroke These are engines that are designed in a way that the “Piston” Full travel is 2 strokes. ( 1 Up and 1 Down to complete the cycle ) Typically smaller engines and typically ( but not always ) 1 cylinder, Most whipper snippers, chain saws, outboards, etc. These engines have to have oil mixed with the gas. 1 or 2 or 4 or 6 etc Cylinders This is simply the amount of cylinders in that device or vehicle. Most small outdoor equipment devices are 1 or 2 cyl. Most cars are 4 or 6 or 8 cyl.. ( V6 or V8 ) which simply refers to the design shape of the motor where the cyl are set in a V pattern 3 on one side and 3 on the other for a V6 as an example. Another way of determining the amount of cylinders is by, how may spark plugs the motor has, this equals the amount of cylinders the motor has. 4 Stroke Means the pistons require 4 strokes of travel to complete the cycle, 2 up and 2 down ( these always require separate oil reservoir and not mixed with gas ). So “Stroke” is a style of engine and “cylinder” is a qty reference only and they can differ or be the same in many different combinations. 1 cyl – 2 stroke 1cyl – 4 stroke 2 cyl – 2 stroke

Q: What is the shelf life of the Sta-bil? This is the second year for the bottle, I noticed that is has changed from red to pink, I'm thinking its no longer good, but am curious as to actual shelf life.

1 Answer
  • A: The shelf life of all STA-BIL® brand products is 2 years after the bottle has been opened, provided it has been tightly capped and stored in a cool, dry place. If the product has not yet been opened, you should use the color of the fluid as an indicator. If the product is still bright red, it is fine to use. If the product has turned to a very dark red (or brown) color, we recommend purchasing a new bottle. It will not harm anything if you use an old bottle of STA-BIL® brand, it just may not be as effective
