Good Product but Hard to install

Once you install the product, yes it a good system you can really enjoy. I installed with help of my 10 year old, No, its really tough. I recommend a strong adult who can help you to assist. We took almost 6 Hrs. to install. I might have taken less time if they have marked the Hardware, as there is no identification markings on any packets. Keep in mind, you need socket set, Screw drive and Hammer to install the system. I recommend this product.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Difficult to assemble - missing parts

Very difficult to assemble; bolts that should be a breeze to put together required much pounding with a hammer. Even with two people this was very difficult. Also, there were three parts missing. Called Spalding and they said parts would be shipped in 5 business days... too late for my sons birthday. Not happy.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Great quality basketball net

Don't be scared off by reviews saying assembly is difficult and will take you several hours or even an entire day. You have to take those reviews with a grain of salt. If you're a not so handy person, then yes it could be a lengthy process. If you are handy, the type of person who fixes things around the house and does repairs on their vehicles, assembly is a breeze. From cutting open the box to completely finished, assembly took me 2 hours by myself. My one tip for assembly would be to NOT over tighten the hardware, especially any of the parts related to the height adjustment. If there are nylock nuts on the bolts, only tighten the nut until it is flush with the end of the bolt. Anymore than that and you will have problems. If you get everything assembled and find that the height adjustment is stiff, back off all the nylock nuts a half turn. Overall I'm happy with this basketball net. Seems to be very good quality.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Block off a day for assembly...

A great product, however I wanted to let people know that the assembly takes much longer than anticipated. My husband and teen-aged son worked on assembly for over 5 hours(some of that was arguing as one participant was a teenager). It should take two reasonable adults 3-4 hours to assemble this beast. It's worth it, as the quality seems great but save yourself the aggravation and don't do it with a teenager. ;)

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: You can drain the base, and store on its side in a garage-type setting. Or you can add 2 gallons of RV, not car, antifreeze to the water you add to the base and store outside in the winter.

Q: How high and low does it go and is it safe to dunk and hang ????

    1 Answer
    • A: The rim height adjusts from 7.5' to 10'. It is never safe to hang on the rim. You can damage the rim and backboard, and potentially tip over the unit.

Q: I'm concerned about safety regarding wind toppling it. Is this valid?

    1 Answer
    • A: Our systems pass numerous safety tests that ensure a high level of safety if the unit is assembled correctly, and the base has been filled with water or sand. That being said, even the strongest portable systems may not be able to withstand violent windstorms. I'd recommend, if you live in an area that is prone to strong windstorms, that you look at an in-ground unit, which provides a higher level of safety against toppling. Even the in-grounds can topple if wind speeds are overly aggressive. Stage your system where it will not impact vehicles or structures, and inspect it after any weather events where high winds were present. Orienting the backboard parallel to the prevailing winds may also help to avoid some wind events that could strike the backboard head on.
