If a particular plastic bears a close enough similarity to acetone, the acetone will dissolve or at least affect its surface, softening, smearing or even dissolving the plastic. Q: Why does this acetone leave a white residue? When evaporated in a clean glass dish, a thin white residue remains at the bottom. Since this is pure acetone, what could explain this? Thanks
10 years ago- A: Thank you for your question. Acetone will leave no residue as it is a pure solvent. Most likely the dish was containment initially and the acetone dissolved this residue (as it is an excellent solvent) which was then re-deposited once dried.10 years agoHelpful?
