My daughter bought this on sale at Father's Day and it turned out to be a pretty good buy. My husband has used it for several small table tops that he sanded before he stained. It worked really well.

A: The Skil ¼ Sheet sander can be used on wood, fibreglass, metal, painted surfaces etc. The most important factor in sanding success is matching the correct sandpaper to the task.

Q: Can this be used to re-finish coffee tables and chairs? I have an old coffee table that I would like to re-stain. Is this product suitable for re-finishing wood products after they have been stripped. Will it work well for the arms and legs of danish style lounge chairs? And the legs for the coffee table?

A: Thank you for your question. This sander will work well for finish sanding. Q: I am having a problem getting the sandpaper to stay on the sander. I've tightened the screws on the grips that hold the paper but that doesn't seem to help.

Q: Can this tool be used to sand car body before painting? I need to remove some rusted spots on my car and want to know if I can use this tool to sand before and after applying fiber glass/painting. please advise.

A: The Skil ¼-Sheet Sander (CTC # 54-7115), is not recommended for sanding metal. It is only recommended for woodworking applications, as indicated in the owner’s manual.
