Best purchase I made!

I’m a brand new driver and know basically nothing about cars. I can’t even change my wipers yet, so trust me when I say this was a leap for me.
I have a 2009 Nissan Altima coupe, and the headlight covers were so cloudy my brights barely made a difference. Driving at night felt sketchy.
On a whim, I grabbed this kit for $18 and hoped for the best. I followed a simple system, about 3 minutes per grit, and I wasn’t overly gentle with it either. Each headlight took me around 15 minutes.
The result? Honestly… almost like new. Huge difference in visibility. I’m actually shocked it worked this well for the price.
If I spent another 30 minutes perfecting it, I’m pretty sure they’d look brand new. But even where they are now, it’s already 100 percent worth it.
If you’re on the fence or feel intimidated like I did, it’s way more doable than you think.

What i expected - they work!

It was on sale. I asked a Cdn Tire employee. he said they never have complaints about these products. Took it home and cleaned the headlight covers on my 2012 grand caravan. Easy peasy. The lights are not "like new". After about 15 years don't expect that - you can see the degradation of the plastic in the covers. However, the lights are about 80% better. I can now see at night and the light projection is significantly better. From afar they look "new" - you can see the headlight fixtures clearly. Clean up your head lights. These kits work! One thing about this kit I appreciated - when i researched online about cleaning light covers they said use "3000" grit paper for the final sanding. This kit had the finer "4000" grit paper for the final polish. It works!

Q: Is there any UV protection in the chemicals? Without it the lens will yellow even worse over time.

Q: I just bought this product and when I opened the box I found a blue bottle of Simoniz Scratch Remover and not the white bottle of Simoniz Headlight Polish Restorer shown on the box. Is the scratch remover the correct product?

Q: Can this be used on glass as well as plastic? Will this help with light pebbling/pitting? Please offer alternative options if not compatible or if there is a better option. Thank you!

If you are noticing pebbling/pitting on your glass headlight or windshield, we would recommend reaching out to an auto glass repair shop as they may be able to give you specialized info for your issue. If the issue is minor, you could try a ceramic coating to fill the pebbling/pitting.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: Doesn’t a final step to apply a liquid sealant (not included with this product) make the restoration last longer?

- A: Thanks for your inquiry. We do not include sealant in the headlights restoration kit, as we do not recommend that step. A restoration typically last about two years. If there is a clear sealant applied at the last step, chances are that same sealant will be the next problem, as it will discolour, becoming yellowish over time. We believe it is better leaving out this step so that it will be much easier to do it again the next time it becomes less transparent. That being said, a great alternative to the sealant would be the the same wax one would apply on the whole car, as per exemple, Simoniz Liquid Wax (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/simoniz-liquid-wax-0392750p.html).6 years agoHelpful?
