Does NOT grow

Put this grass seed out, watered for over a week. Two weeks and not one seed as germinated. You can see the seed - which is light gray, still there - no grass. Looks like the coating PREVENTS water from getting in. Lot of work and money spent for nothing...and I do mean nothing.

Temperature and water are two critical factors when it comes to seed germination. For the best results, soil temperatures should be between 60-70 degrees and you should water at least twice a day until the seeds germinate. Don't waste your time with this seed

I've had great luck with Scotts fertilizer so I thought I'd try their seed for the first time. I followed the instructions to a tee and after 2 weeks I have no new grass! I ran out of the Scotts seed so I bought a generic seed and spread it down a few days after planting the Scott seed. The cheap seed came up just fine. There were a few nights where the temparature dropped to 5 degrees, which I know didn't help but the cheap seed did just fine. Don't waste your money on this expensive seed, it may work under perfect conditions but the cheap seed will be less hassle in the long run.

These coated grass seeds are a great way to ensure the grass grows perfectly. You dont need much water with these seeds but to be sure they stay moist is key to good growth. Being coated just makes sense making it easier for us home owners.

Worked sometimes

We used this to seed where we dug up the gravel left behind by the previous owners. The grass took a while to get going and when it did come in, it grew in patches and in some places not at all, even though we made sure to put enough seed down. Would recommend it for small areas, not large areas.

Q: What kind of grass seeds are in the package and what is the coverage per bag?

A: This bag covers 130 square meters when used for seeding a new lawn, and 390 square meters when used at the overseeding rate. The current Breakdown by weight is: 12.5% Ken BLue 85/80 Kentucky Bluegrass 21% Wendy Jean Red Fescue 12.5% Gray Star Perennial Ryegrass 4% Gulf Annual Ryegrass 50% ZEBA Coating (48% Limestone as carrier and 2% Coating) Please note: The specific seed varieties can change throughout the year due to availability.

Q: How long to grow We are looking for the seed that grows grass in 5 to 7 days .

A: It took A little over a week with a watering in the morning and at night if seeding in the middle of summer with the 30 degree weather. I also put the seed down then covered it with a little layer of topsoil which i think helped keep the sun off the seed and drying it out.

Q: Coated Grass Seed - Storage Once scotts coated grass seed container (Bag) is opened will the seed be useful in the next growing season once stored over the winter.

A: Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix has an indefinite shelf life. We expect a 5 to 7% reduction in the seed germination for each year that the product is kept. Close opened containers by rolling or folding the top and taping it shut. Store both unopened and opened containers in a cool, dry area where they will not absorb water.
