I bought a top hat at the dollar store to put on the skeleton for Halloween. I wanted to protect it from wilting in the rain. Works amazing. No drooping or stretching. I was impressed as these cheap felt type hats are not thick or strong. I would recommend.

Q: Are the chemicals in this product safe for use on jeans that will be against my skin all day and every day?

A: These are chemicals. All spray waterproofing for clothing are chemicals. These Chemincals are health for humans overall, but after the spray dries, it should be fine to use on clothing. Just don't lick the jeans. Also considering that you spray the outside of your jeans, why would it touch or rub against your skin? You wouldn't spray the inside of the jeans. Also if you wash your jeans, like most people do, then the waterproof coating will disappear and you'll have to reapply another coat of spray. This waterproofing is best for coats or shoes. Something that you wouldn't regularly wash.

A: Thanks for your inquiry. Coverage per can varies with fabric type. The can averages about 60 sq. ft. for light nylon to about 20 sq. ft. for heavier fabrics.

Q: Can this product be used on a fabric shower curtain? (I think the fabric is polyester.

A: Hi btrfly, we advise our customers not to use this type of Scotchgard indoors as the smell can be irritating to some people. Standard Scotchgard water and fabric protection offers about half the water repellency of HD water protection. As long as the shower curtain is not dry-cleaned only, customers can test the Scotchgard application on a small, inconspicuous area to check for colorfastness and dye bleed.

Q: cleaning before waterproofing I want to use this product on non-leather hiking boots but the boots should be cleaned first. Do you sell or recommend a product I could use to clean the boots? Thank you.

A: Both dirt and detergents can interfere with water repellents if not removed. It’s recommended to clean with just water. If the boots have more than just soil or salt on them (e.g., if they are oily), use a detergent that can be rinsed away easily with water (like hand dish detergent). Rinse well with water, let the boots dry completely, then apply the protector.
