Q: Does this have to be assembled and kept upright, or are the shelves/sides sturdy enough to lay this sideways for a lower option?

A: This unit was not safety tested to be used on its side. Because of this, we recommend that it be used as it is shown, with the bookcase standing upright and the backing securely attached.

Q: Does this piece have the option of leaving off the feet?

A: NO. Not fully and correctly assembling the unit is not recommended and would void the warranty. Additionally, removing the feet could present safety issues.
