Rust-Oleum cold galvanizing compound

I bought this spray to coat my new trailer I made of new steel I bought from the metal shop I cleaned all weld and wash the trailer down with alcohol before I painted it. I put 2 coats paint on it wait day a day between coats . Waited 3 days to dry Went to install top wood deck broads and paint rubbed off where it touch wood (Would not buy again) use rust paint its much better and cheaper Called Rust - Oleum custom support they said they would get back to me

Q: Does the paint have a color similar to normal galvanized coatings (i.e. dull aluminum)?

A: Hi fishndude, Yes, this has a colour similar to galvanized coatings. However, if you do decide you want to change the colour, you will need to apply a water based primer afterwards and then you can apply the top coat of your choice.

A: I think it would but I had a problem with getting it too stick good and painted over it anyway. So, works great as long as you never touch it or move it.

Q: Does this paint coat real zinc to the surface? I know we can attach zinc to boat to protect steel. Is it same method?

A: Hi Andrew, Our Professional Cold Galvanizing aerosol is a zinc- rich coating used to touch- up damaged or weathered galvanized surfaces such as gutters and fences. Dry film contains 93% zinc.

Q: I have a galvanized steel pole that has some rust on it. Can I spray this on the rust areas to prevent further rusting?

A: Hi Jan33, We recommend removing as much of the loose rust as possible with wire brushing and/or sanding. Then remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with commercial detergent or other suitable cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and allow to fully dry before painting.

Q: What is the main purpose of this spray paint. Is it good for rusting outdoor metal art? And can u paint over this product?

A: The Cold Galvanizing Compound is meant to protect the metal from rusting for outdoors applications. You can prime it with a water-based primer such as Tremclad Galvanizing White primer before painting it with any other paints you want.
