Q: Over time, does the coating dry and crack, possibly allowing moisture behind the coating that can allow rust to develop?

2 Answers
  • A: Not is you prep the surface properly. If your doing a frame etc I would use asphalt undercoat which is oil based and inhibits rust, however isn’t paintable.

Q: Can I spray paint my whole truck with this? How much would it fade in direct sunlight?

  • A: You could conceivably paint your whole truck with it however it is meant as an undercoat to be painted over ideally.

Q: Can you use this or truck bed liner spray to paint raw steel dining table legs.to give them a powder coat effect. They will be raw steel so I'll have to clean and prep them first and it will be for indoor use so they shouldn't rust. Thoughts anyone?

  • A: Yes if the steel is completely clean it will work

Q: Would this stick to Aluminum? Wanting to spray old beat up headache rack. Don't want it to peel and look terrible in a year.

  • A: Yes. It's mostly about surface prep though. It needs to be clean of all loose paint, grease, rust etc. If it is polished aluminum, it would need to be roughed up with sandpaper first.

Q: will this product adhere to plastic id like to coat the front on my bumper it is gray plastic kinda bumpy no paint, it doesnt need to last forever maybe a year or so

  • A: I have used Rock Guard on many plastic pieces on my truck and it looks amazing after its done. Just remember to do a lot of prep to get the plastic prepped. I am actually going to be going to get some product soon to do my fender flairs for my Ram 1500. It's all in the prep work. If you don't want to get down and dirty it will not look very good. If you are willing to put in the time and effort it will look amazing.

Q: How long is the coating good for before it needs to be re-done, and is it necessary to remove the previous coating before applying new? What is the best way to remove the coating if needed? Thank you

1 Answer
  • A: If the surface is clear of debris, I’ve had a single coat last 3 years. If it cracks or peels and you want the new coat to be seamlessly blended then you should remove the previous coats, which is simple enough to do as it will peel away.
