Q: is there any thing on the charcoal to help it start burning
6 years agoA: Royal Oak Charcoal 15.4lb (0851635) is not an instant lighting charcoal briquet and a starting agent, either liquid or solid, is needed to initially start the charcoal briquets on fire. They contain a natural product, sodium nitrate, that is used as an ignition agent to assist in getting the briquets to burn completely once they are lit on fire. If you are looking for an instant lighting product we would suggest Royal Oak Minit Lite 6.2lb (0852353). This product features lighter fluid baked in for easy ignition.

Q: Are these briquettes actually made with oak, or is it just the brand name?
