Pet Safety Our WHY Traps do not use any killing agents or poisons. The product relies on luring the pest insects to the trap where they cannot get back out. Eventually, the trapped insects will expire on their own.The heptyl butyrate and the butanol can be strong eye irritants and mild skin irritants. If there is eye or skin contact, then wash thoroughly with clean water and if irritation persists then see a doctor. What It Catches The RESCUE! W·H·Y Trap catches 5 species of Paper Wasps; Bald-faced Hornets and European Hornets; and 12 species of Yellowjackets. Where To Hang It The RESCUE! W·H·Y Trap can be used outdoors wherever there is a paper wasp, hornet or yellowjacket problem. We recommend the trap be placed at least 20 feet away from an outdoor activity area, such as a patio or deck. Generally speaking, the W·H·Y® Trap will capture more paper wasps near a house structure, and more hornets and yellowjackets near a natural setting of bushes and trees. It can be highly effective to place multiple traps around the perimeter of a yard or area where insects are entering. The trap should also be placed at least 20 feet away from a known yellowjacket nest.

  • RESCUE! W.H.Y Trap takes the sting out of summer, it is a premium insect trap that captures the most common stinging insect nuisances: wasps, hornets and yellow jackets

  • Lures and catches up to 20 species, both queens and workers, spring to fall, including 12 species of yellow jackets, 5 species of paper wasps, bald-faced hornets and European hornets

  • Comes complete with three attractants

  • Top chamber is baited with two attractants -- one of which is a solid contained in a vial, and the other a liquid mixed with water

  • Bottom chamber is baited with a liquid attractant poured onto a cotton pad; attractant will not lure beneficial honeybees

  • Designed specifically not to harm beneficial honeybees

  • Unique double-chambered design prevents escapes, the insects cannot fly out, and die either by drowning (top chamber) or dehydration (bottom chamber)

  • Completely safe and non-toxic, no poisons or killing agents

  • Hang outdoors to trap all the aggressive stinging insects; trap be placed at least 20 feet away from an outdoor activity area, such as a patio or deck

Ineffective

I purchased this trap through Amazon and assembled it per directions. It has been hanging now for a week over my milkweed plants where the wasps love to troll for monarch caterpillars. Not one wasp has been captured and not a single wasp has been seen investigating the trap. I’m sorry I wasted the money. I should note that the trap has caught many gnats and one moth.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Doesn't work at all

I got this trap at Ace Hardware (along with several other yellow jacket traps) and I followed the instructions to a T. I moved it a few different times and absolutely zero wasps/bees/hornets in the trap. The only thing in there is a spider. I actually had to hire a pest control company to spray around my house due to how many wasps and yellow jackets we have. I also purchased the yellow jacket traps (disposable and reusable +refills) and same result. I purchased the yellow jacket traps last year and thought I got a dud or forgot to bait them, so I unfortunately gave these traps another try this year. Same thing. Nothing.

Beekeepers Bee-ware

I bought two W-H-Y traps hoping to combat paper wasps. One is about 150 yards from my beehives and the other 200 yards. I have caught two wasps and numerous honeybees. As someone who sells and recommends bee safe products, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend these traps to beekeepers.

Q: I bought this trap and it is working on the bottom, but there is no way for the wasps to die. I had one in BC very much like this one, and the trap was just the water so when they got in it they drowned. This one they get in on the bottom and just get mad

Q: Why doesn't this version simply allow use of the sachet that comes with the disposable wasp traps that work so well? Why so much plastic?
