    Not bad for the price

    Got it for my son. Nothing better for that price. The rod is sensible, yet god enough to support a good amount of weight. The reel is fairly good. Let's see how it holds in time. Even if it was for 1 season, the price is very good.

    Q: how many pounds can the rod itself handle?

    • A: The rod will hold a huge amount of weight but you should never force it to bend too much. I would say it will hold any lake fish you can catch. I caught a 12 pounds pike with this rod and got a lot of a fight but finally managed to reel it in. I was using a 15 pound line.
