Not "Racoon Proof" as advertised

Bought this garbage can hoping to deal with racoon problem. Garbage can is sturdy, made with thick plastic that so far has kept squirrels from chewing through it. However the lid does not stay on securely. Indeed, if you hit it with your hand, it falls off easily. Racoons got in no problem the first time I used it. Have tried making sure lid is tightly sealed, but it doesn't make a difference (see picture). Can is better than average, but certainly not 'racoon proof' as advertised.

Amazing!

We have had issues this mild winter with raccoons and foxes getting into the garbage. We bought this can a month ago and have not had one since! We have actually watched them try to get into this can with no luck! We are seriously happy with this product!

Super heavy duty garbage can

When I received this garbage can as part of the Tested for Life program, the first impression I got was that is was no ordinary can. The bottom is reinforced so you can drag it to the road without worrying about wearing it out. I really liked the thick heavy rim, side walls and lid. It looks like it will last a long time. As far as critters getting into it, I had it out for 3 weeks without any issues at all. Then I put some fish guts in it for another few weeks and then left it out near my laneway for easier racoon and possibly bear access. The can still had the lid on and fish inside it after almost 3 weeks. I think this can could be used for alot more than just garbage. This can is strong enough that you could fill it with ice and cold drinks. It would make a great garbage can for a shop or garage because its tough enough to handle anything you could throw into it. You could even use it for a rain barrel without having it collapse. I would definetly recommend this garbage can to anyone looking for a critter proof can.

Keep those pesky raccoons out!

If you want a sturdy garbage can that works to keep racoons out of your trash can, this is for you. I was sick of using bungy cords to tie my lid on tight. No more worries about cleaning up my garbage off the road with this bin! It works so well :-)
