A thick commercial fabric that is easy to work with if you have good landscaping abilities. You will need good working tools to work with the fabric as it requires good sharp tools to cut the fabric. you will have to ensure that you sharpen your cutting tools after each cut and use a back board to cut the fabric with. Remember that nothing is perfect when it comes to landscaping installations...BUT you want to have good products to ensure that you're not going to RE-DO the installation a couple of years down the road...

It is a great product, I was very surprised at the price, I was in a hurry to complete a job and didn’t shop around, but you might want to check out some competitors. Maybe this was a great deal, I don’t know.

Q: Can I use this on top of soil against foundation temporarily to stop rain splash back on the siding and erosion?

A: It’s fairly thick fabric material. It feels a bit like a heavy felt. It would probably divert streaming water to prevent erosion but it would definitely soak through with water. It would not fall apart when wet so it should last a while exposed to weather but perhaps not more than a few months.

A: The material should be overlapped at a minimum of 1.5" and secured properly with a weed barrier anchor such as staple (59-1700) or peg (59-1818). This will prevent the material from shifting and prevent weed growth.

A: The Platinum 400 material is the highest quality and most effective weed barrier material available. It works beautifully to keep gardens free from weeds while allowing air circulation and water to penetrate through to the plants below. Like all weed barriers / landscape fabrics, the new material may be slightly hydrophobic (repels water) initially. To solve this, the surface tension of the fabric must be broken, to allow for the water to pass through the material. This can be easily done by applying to the surface of the fabric an insecticidal soap product or very mild solution of dish soap and water (2 tbsp / gallon) in order to break the surface tension. This is completely safe, will only require a single application, thus solving any surface tension issue that may occur.
