Q: What is the life span of synthetic oil as compared to conventional engine oils. Thanks

7 Answers
  • A: It all depends on the distance you drive, the climate, what/if your towing... etc. If any of these conditions are harsh, then I always recommend a Full Synthetic no matter what. But for the average Joe. I'd say anywhere from at least 5000km all the way up to 10000km. One way or another, a synthetic motor oil will always out perform a non synthetic in all of these cases... in my experience.

  • A: Hello, This product is GM dexos1 Gen 3 approved. Kindly double check if the part number on the container is 550046194 or 550046195 to ensure that the product on-hand is indeed Quaker State Full Synthetic SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil. Hope this helps.

  • A: Determining the interval for changing your motor oil is easy! While many motorists think that motor oil companies set oil drain intervals, this is not the case. OEMs and their engineers know their engine better than anyone else, thus their oil drain intervals are derived from research and development, to which motor oils then support with their particular OEM approved products, like Pennzoil. Every vehicle manufacturer has a recommended number of miles or time interval listed within the vehicle’s owner manual, so you can know exactly how often to change the motor oil. Changing your motor oil has become less frequent as engine technology has become more advanced and the use of synthetic motor oils are able to better protect engines and allow for longer oil drain intervals; with some oil drain intervals are now as high as 20,000 miles or a year between changes for some newer vehicles.

Q: 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS Can this be used on a 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS 5W-20? My car currently has 79,000 km on it.

  • A: Quaker State is the oil that Hyundai endorses but you are free to use any oil that meets your cars specifications which this one does meet. Check your oil fill cap which should have the viscosity written or refer to your owners manual in the Capacities and Fluids section in the Maintenance chapter.

Q: Is a special oil filter required to use 100% synthetic oil?

2 Answers
  • A: Depends on how many miles you plan on doing between oil change intervals. If you plan on doing up to 8,000 km OCI's then any filter will do but if you plan to do over 8,000 km's then you may want to invest in a synthetic filter that will filter the oil up to 15,000 km's +.

Q: Can I use it in my touring motorcycle?

  • A: bad idea buddy, Most motorcycles use a wet clutch system. Synthetic oils have friction modifiers in the, these will cause the clutch to slip..
