My Pick for the Best Non-OEM Oil

I’ve always used Pennzoil in my car and have never had any issues. I change the oil every 6000 - 7000 km or twice a year and the car runs great. I like that it’s made using natural gas rather than crude oil, which gives it a very clean base oil. Even though their Ultra Platinum is one of the most expensive oils out there but Pennzoil always seems to have rebates going on so it ends up costing me about the same as the cheaper oils while I’m getting a premium quality oil. Definitely sticking with Pennzoil.

It would appear that this oil is no longer made from natural gas due the processing facilities have been damaged during attacks from the Iran/US war. So is it still Ultra Premium? not sure, but it’s formulation has changed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can I use this is a diesel 2012 VW Jetta TDI?

A: It is better to get a C3 level of oil if possible which is better for euro diesel engines. Btw this oil is not compatible at all, even the Pennz 0w-30 is an A5/B5 which means it is not suitable for all applications. I would go with Motul or even royal purple just to be safe.
