Cleans easy in the dishwasher

This simple little item has helped me produce some of the best-tasting coffee I've ever made, and I'll admit I'm quite particular about my coffee! The best part is that it has a cut out so I dont ovefill my cup. Here are my recommendations regarding its use: 1) Grind your coffee beans fairly finely; this helps control the flow rate of the water through the filter. If the grind is too coarse, the result is a weak brew. Icky. 2) As the packaging states, this item can be washed in a dishwasher. Although most days I just empty it and rinse it out with hot water, I've also had good results in the dishwasher--but ONLY once I learned to thoroughly rinse out the stainless steel filter before using. The mesh is tight enough to filter out finely ground coffee--that's a good thing--but it also serves to trap a fair amount of soap residue. Double icky. 3) As always, it's necessary to experiment with proportions to suit your taste. My personal favorite is 3 tablespoons of finely ground coffee to 10 ounces of water just below the boil. Enjoy!

Yes, I recommend this product.

AWESOME plastic-free brewer

(Well, the plastic doesn't touch the brewing process, anyway.) This thing rocks! I wanted something with a permanent filter and this is one of the very few on the market available without plastic touching the coffee. I love that the hole is smaller than, say, a Hario pour-over, because it immerses the coffee and steeps it a little stronger for a full, rich, flavorful cup (hate paper filters!) paperless brewing is the way to go if you appreciate the potential flavors in high-end coffee and don't just guzzle it loaded down with cream and sugar. You can customize the strength. Be sure to learn how to properly brew pour over- it makes a big difference than just aggressively dumping water in the cone! Also, regarding silt: it makes a massive difference if you use a burr grinder and set it to medium or fine. Just remember the finer it is, the more silt you'll get. Previous reviewer was probably using a blade grinder, which pounds the beans into all different sizes. Fantastic price, good quality!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not Even Close

You'd think this was a high end "pour over" product from the price - but it is far from that. Water runs through the grounds (medium coarse and even medium) like effluent through a goose. No time to bring anything out of the bean except colour. Try using fine grind and end up with a cup of sediment riddled bitterness. Try using a paper filter instead of the metal reusable and the filter collapses into the bottom, impeding the flow. Just a mess, poorly designed and way, way overpriced. Melitta has a plastic holder that blows this thing off the map. A real disappointment.

Stay Far Away

This product is so overpriced and so underwhelming. As per usual with permanent filters, the coffee made has a silt layer that makes the last ounce undrinkable. Should you remove the stanless steel filter and use a #4 paper cone filter, the coffee is silt free, but then why buy this thing? You can have a cheap Melitta holder and a box of paper filters for less than a sixth the price. I guess if you want breakable glass instead of plastic and are willing to pay a premium...well be my guest. All others, look to the Melitta.

No, I do not recommend this product.
