tow small for bluebirds

this house doesn't meet the size requirements for bluebirds. otherwise it is a good house we have 6 of these for our tree swallow.

Smartly designed! This bird house is much better than many available (including others at CDN tire). Mold and mildew preventing cedar construction, easy to clean, flood-proof, easy to install - and more. It looks deceptively simple. But, it was built by bird friendly people who knew what was needed. Put one up! Support birds. Bluebirds will control your insect population - including mosquitos!

Q: Bought this birdhouse and am ready to mount it for the first time. Is this birdhouse squirrel proof? Unfortunately we have a lot of black squirrels

A: Thanks for your inquiry, Louise. Our Cedar Bluebird House does come with a predator guard which helps protect against predators but there are other factors to take into consideration. Please note where you mount your house makes a difference as well. Our recommendations are below. In addition, you might need to baffle your house or put a roof guard on. I would encourage you do to some research on the various available methods for either. Bluebird House Mounting: Bluebird houses can be mounted on a metal pipe/pole using pipe clamps (our preferred method), which you should be able to find at your local Canadian Tire. The pipe clamps should be attached above and below the nesting chamber of the house. The bluebird house can be mounted directly to a 4x4 post, wooden fence post, or tree by screwing through the back board above and below the nest chamber of the bluebird house with screws at least 1/2" longer than the depth of the board, or by screwing through the bottom of the house into the top of a 4x4 post. Be aware that these mounting methods do allow predators easy access to disturb the nest box.
