The tampering can be a bit to get, and the handle with the espresso needs a bit of a break in period because it fits super tight. The steam is a bit hard to control but this can be user error. Other than that it’s been a fantastic machine

Je suis habituée avec les machine à expresso manuelle. au début faut comprendre que la machine doit chauffer puis elle nous envois un signal qu'on peut la mettre en marche pour un café. Une fois qu'on comprend les combinaisons signal/manivelle/ boutons ça se fait bien. Machine facile à nettoyer et agréable à utiliser une fois qu'on est à l'aise avec les manipulations.

Great little machine for the beginner

Bought this thinking it would save money on lattes. 4 weeks in and it's already paid for itself. Pretty easy to use. Love the steam wand function however doesn't froth well.

Q: The guide says for a double shot to use 15-18 grams. I can't come close to tamping that much coffee into the double basket even at the finest grind setting. I can barely fit 10 grams and am getting no crema and a pretty low quality shot. Any ideas?

Q: Does a regular mug (approx. 4") fit under the portafilter with the drip pan in place?

A: The height is just under 4" - it is about 3 3/4" so of you tip the mug slightly it will fit.

Q: Is there any parts available for this machine.. like when the group Head gasket will fail in a few years ??

A: This product has a 2 year warranty. For another Paderno product, I dealt directly with Paderno. They sent me the part in the mail. Another time I had a problem, they told me to take my receipt and the product to Canadian Tire customer service and they told me to get a brand new one off the shelf. Warranty was really good, just keep your receipt.

Q: How do you know how many bar are being achieved? I don't see a pressure gauge.

A: Sorry, I don't know. My expertise is rather limited. It appears the required pressure differs for brewing coffee and steaming milk. Whenever I get to the latter, it takes a while longer to heat up further.

Q: Could you tell us the diameter of the portafilter on this machine? Tried to check in store but no display unit, only boxed. I'd like to know the dimension for potential upgrades later (bottomless portafilter, shower screens, etc.) Thanks.

A: i d = 53 mm, o d = 59 mm - I had to check the manual for their nomenclature. The "portafilter" is the cup with a handle on it, that contain the small cups with fresh, ground coffee and that dispense the coffee.
