Plan was to purchase the handheld Food Saver. The countertop unit was on sale and to realize it included the handheld model as well, consequently I bought the Food Saver set.

Cheapest parts

I’ve had a foodsaver before. It worked great. Now I get a new one and it doesn’t seal a bag no matter how many times you try. I guess foodsaver got so big we only use the cheapest parts

Broken down just over 2 months

Bought it on sale on Christmas Eve 2025. Used it first time on Dec 30, 2025 when I bought a whole strip loin. Broke the whole thing down into individual steaks and thought of giving it a 5-star rating review then but forgotten. Put it alway in storage till mid-Jan 2026 and used it 2nd time to seal 2 bags of chicken thighs. Today (Feb 7, 2026) just over 2 months, used it to seal some slice beef ribs. It was a small portion. This time after the vacuum & seal operation, it’s not sealed. I tried again. It was struggling to vacuum but it did and sealed. After removing the bag and getting the second bag ready, I smelled some burnt smell within the machine. And then it stopped working. Even though within 90 days, I can’t return it to Canadian Tire because it’s been opened and used. Really disappointed with the quality & reliability of this Foodsaver.

Bad Xmas gift

I got the handheld unit as a Xmas gift. It has already stopped working. Used it about 8 times. It shows being fully charged (solid green light) but when you take it out and press the button it doesn’t turn on. Press the button again, and the red light flashes. What a piece of garbage. Tried for two hours to get on line and submit warranty. Wouldn’t accept my date code. Really?
